Baja Information

Mexico's Baja Peninsula is the launching point for electrifying big animal diving encounters in the Eastern Pacific's Socorro Islands. These uninhabited specs of land and undersea pinnacles are mid-ocean oases that attract giant manta rays, silky sharks, bottlenose dolphins and hammerheads. Divers may also be immersed in flashing shoals of jacks and yellowfin tuna, or catch a glimpse of migrating humpback whales. Ninety miles north of Cabo San Lucas, swimmers meet whale sharks in La Paz and venture into the rich waters of the Sea of Cortez, where sea lions and seals frolic in a marine preserve. Bluewater excursions add thrilling encounters with orcas and gamefish hunting sardine schools, and remote San Ignacio lagoon provides a rare seasonal opportunity to make contact with gray whales.
